Contribution to Local Communities

Supporting the Swedish Center Foundation

We support the Swedish Center Foundation, a general incorporated foundation established in 1983 in Sweden Hills, Tobetsu, Hokkaido, to promote cultural exchange and friendship between Japan and Sweden and contribute to the industrial and cultural development of Hokkaido.

The Center Hall introduces Swedish industries and culture through exhibitions, seminars, and other events, while also displaying and selling glass artworks created at the Glass Studio and imported lifestyle goods. In addition to activities that provide opportunities to experience Swedish lifestyles and culture firsthand, such as the annual Midsummer Festival, the Center also offers workshops, including glassblowing classes.

Hosting the Tobetsu Sweden Marathon

The inaugural Tobetsu Sweden Marathon was held in 2018 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Sweden. Although the event was temporarily suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have continued to support its organization and operation while promoting environmentally responsible initiatives.

Held in Sweden Hills in Tobetsu, the marathon brings together recreational runners, Sweden House homeowners, and employees of Group companies. Through sport, the event contributes to maintaining and promoting health, creating new connections, and revitalizing the local community.

Factory Tours and Educational Programs

At our corrugated container plants, we offer factory tours, study sessions, outreach classes, and work experience programs for local elementary and junior high school students as part of social studies and environmental education.

With the support of the Isehara City Board of Education, our Atsugi Plant was also featured in the 2025 edition for middle grades of Work Notebook for Elementary School Students in Atsugi, Isehara, and Hadano, published by CHUCO Co., Ltd.

Through these initiatives centered on corrugated containers, we help participants deepen their understanding of the importance of a circular economy and recycling, manufacturing, and the Tomoku Group’s business activities.

We also actively engage with local communities through cleanup activities around our plants and by sponsoring local festivals and events.

Food Support for Families Raising Children

We contribute to a child support initiative by using Japan’s corporate hometown tax donation program in the cities of Yokosuka and Miura. This initiative, proposed by the startup Nessu Inc., addresses two social issues: opportunity gaps among children and food loss from out-of-spec vegetables that would otherwise be discarded.

Through our corrugated container business, we have longstanding relationships with people in the agricultural sector and have become aware of the challenges farmers face when vegetables with irregular shapes or sizes have no market. This initiative enables us to support both farmers and families raising children. We remain committed to contributing to local communities through these efforts.

Supporting Art Education that Nurtures the Senses

We support art education activities at local arts organizations, special needs schools, kindergartens, and other institutions by providing corrugated board sheets and other materials.

Providing Corrugated Board Beds and Partitions During Disasters

When natural disasters occur, Tomoku Co., Ltd. delivers corrugated board beds, partitions, and other emergency relief supplies in response to requests from local governments, industry organizations, and other entities.

Preparedness for future infectious disease risks also remains important. To help create safe and secure environments in offices and public facilities, we also provide multifunctional desk partitions and flame-retardant corrugated board partitions suitable for events and temporary booths.
