Workplace Environment

Guided by the CSR Policy, Human Rights Policy, Safety and Health Policy, Group Code of Conduct, and other relevant policies and standards, we are working to maintain and improve workplace environments.

Respect for Human Rights
We recognize that our business activities may have a direct or indirect impact on human rights, and we fulfill our responsibility to respect the fundamental rights inherent to all people. We do not tolerate discrimination of any kind based on race, nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, beliefs, personal status, birth, age, disability status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other status. We also prohibit all forms of physical and psychological harassment, including power harassment, sexual harassment, and harassment related to pregnancy, childbirth, childcare leave, and other related matters.

Realizing Safe Workplace Environments
We position occupational health and safety activities as a foundation of our business activities and promote the creation of safe and secure workplaces. By complying with laws and regulations related to occupational health and safety as well as internal standards, and by conducting risk assessments, we aim to create workplaces that move beyond zero accidents toward zero hazards. We also implement occupational health and safety activities involving not only employees but also all related parties working on-site. We encourage employees to take voluntary initiatives and work to raise safety awareness through education and internal communications. In addition, we appropriately allocate the necessary management resources and continue to implement effective improvements.

Diversity, Equity&Inclusion
We value diversity and equity and are working to create workplaces where each employee can find fulfillment in their work. We strive to foster communication environments where people can exchange opinions openly and actively, regardless of hierarchy, personal attributes, or departmental boundaries, thereby contributing to the sustainable growth of both the organization and individuals. We are also committed to creating environments where diverse employees have equitable opportunities to thrive and continue working over the long term.

Maintaining and Promoting Mental and Physical Health
We believe that the sustainable development of a company is built on the health of its employees. We support each employee in maintaining and improving their mental and physical health, and actively promote health initiatives so that employees can lead fulfilling lives.

Work-Life Balance
We strive to create workplace environments where employees can achieve work-life balance by reducing overtime hours and encouraging employees to take paid leave. In accordance with the business characteristics and circumstances of each Group company, we are promoting a range of initiatives, including strengthening working hour management systems, ensuring appropriate staffing, operating work interval systems, setting targets for the use of paid leave and managing leave in a planned manner, implementing telework and no-overtime days, communicating targets through internal newsletters, and developing supportive workplace environments.

Employee Engagement
We regularly conduct employee awareness surveys to continuously monitor indicators related to employee satisfaction, awareness, opinions, and human capital outcomes.

For issues identified through these surveys, we consider response measures, mainly through the Sustainability Project Team, taking into account the results of stress checks and other findings, and implement measures and verify their effectiveness.

As a result of these initiatives, satisfaction with working hour management, ease of taking paid leave, and working hours has improved, helping to reduce turnover intention and the number of employees leaving the Group. From the fiscal year ended March 2023, we began measuring indicators such as overall satisfaction and eNPS. From the fiscal year ended March 2024, we also began measuring employee engagement, work engagement, psychological safety, and other indicators. In the fiscal year ended March 2025, Sweden House and Tohun also participated in the employee awareness survey.

We use data from these surveys as key indicators and are working to improve workplace environments based on them. We are also working to foster a sense of unity within the Tomoku Group and strengthen Group cohesion through initiatives such as employee participation in the Sweden Marathon in Tobetsu, Hokkaido, and softball tournaments held by all Group companies.

Occupational Health and Safety Promotion System

Tomoku Co., Ltd. has established Health and Safety Management Regulations and Central Health and Safety Committee Regulations based on applicable laws and regulations and its Safety and Health Policy. It has also established the Safety Promotion Division under the Safety Promotion and Quality Assurance Headquarters, and has developed an occupational health and safety promotion system, as shown in the diagram.

The Central Health and Safety Committee consists of company representatives, including directors, the General Manager of the Safety Promotion Division, and the General Manager of the Labor Relations Department, as well as labor union officers. The committee is responsible for planning and promoting company-wide occupational health and safety activities and providing guidance and support to the health and safety committees at each business site. Its initiatives include formulating annual activity policies, conducting plant safety patrols, providing safety training, and thoroughly implementing hazard prediction training (KYT).

The Safety Promotion Division oversees and promotes company-wide occupational health and safety activities in accordance with applicable laws and regulations and the Company’s Safety and Health Policy. It supports the operation of the Health and Safety Management Regulations, serves as the secretariat for the Central Health and Safety Committee, provides guidance and advice to each business site, plans safety education and training, and promotes safety patrols and hazard prediction training (KYT), thereby contributing to the improvement of safety standards.

At each business site, a health and safety committee comprising representatives of labor and management has been established, and an occupational health and safety management system that incorporates employee input has been developed. The person responsible for each business site oversees the prevention of occupational accidents and the creation of safe and comfortable workplace environments, serves as chairperson of the Plant Health and Safety Committee, and promotes occupational health and safety education, measurement and evaluation of work environments, and improvements to workplace environments.

Each Tomoku Group company has also established committees in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, and labor and management work together to develop occupational health and safety promotion systems.

Organizational chart of Tomoku's Occupational Health and Safety Promotion System, structured around two lines of authority: an operational line running from the President through the Plant Manager to the Safety Officer, Health Officer, and Plant Health and Safety Committee; and a committee line running from the President through the Safety Promotion Division to the Central Health and Safety Committee, which provides guidance and support to the plant level. The Occupational Physician works in conjunction with the Plant Health and Safety Committee.
